Detroit Lose, 4-0, to Royals, Mask
|
In an outstanding outing, Kansas City Royals starter Mike Mask tamed the Detroit Tigers with a 3-hit shutout at Comerica Park. The Kansas City hurler went the distance, finishing with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 4-0 win.
"He had a lot of first-pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to Detroit manager Chris Gasparro. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today."
This season, Mask has a 13-9 mark in 31 starts with a 3.43 ERA. He has given up 159 hits in 189 innings, struck out 176 and issued 58 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .226 batting average against him.
