The Toronto Blue Jays knocked off the New York Yankees, 6-5, in American League action at Rogers Centre. Toronto pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Mike Williams had an outstanding performance. Toronto goes to 91-58. The win puts them 8½ games up in their division.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-born Marcos Iniguez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Blue Jays trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to right-center to put Toronto on top.

"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Iniguez told the Toronto Citizen.
