Yankees Beat Toronto, 4-3
|
Toronto center fielder John Slaff had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Slaff went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as New York beat the Blue Jays, 4-3. The save was credited to Jon Barton, his 34th. The loss makes Toronto 101-48.
New York used a clutch hit from Bobby Brown to get the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Toronto manager Dan Silva said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
