Mariners Lose at Home, 7-2
|
The Los Angeles Angels stopped the Seattle Mariners, 7-2, behind an impressive performance from David Elson. The 28-year old second baseman made life miserable for Seattle pitching. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. John Larson was the winner. He's now 10-9. The loser was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jeremy Canty. The Angels sit in 4th place in the American League West Division with a record of 70-79.
Los Angeles used a clutch at-bat from Sho Yasunaga to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Angels ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Elson attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
