Las Vegas Victorious, 7-5, Versus Arizona
|
The Las Vegas Hustle withstood a fine game by Arizona third baseman Tim Kase at Las Vegas Ballpark, to upend the Diamondbacks, 7-5. Kase was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Casey Neill, the winner, improved to 9-13. He held the Diamondbacks to 3 runs on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Alexis Fuentes, who is on pace for 204 strikeouts this season, earned the save for Las Vegas.
Jake Sanders, who finished 5th in the NL in runs with 106 in 2107, chipped in a 2-run home run for Las Vegas in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Sanders told the Las Vegas Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
The win has Las Vegas at 59-90.
