Brewers Handed 7-4 Loss by St. Louis
|
The St. Louis Cardinals overcame a good performance by Milwaukee center fielder Byron Weaver to knock off Milwaukee, 7-4, at Busch Stadium. Weaver was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. The last-place Cardinals improved to 57-92.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from third baseman Gabe Vega. For the game, Vega went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 6-3 lead.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Vega told the St. Louis Chronicle.
