Minnesota got a decent performance from pitcher Jeff Olguin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Tigers. Detroit won the Target Field contest, 4-3. Olguin threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Mark Crawford. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 5-5. The 4th-place Tigers lifted their record to 69-81.

Nick Sciara came through with a big-time hit for Detroit. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Minnesota manager Chris Greuling.
