A good performance from catcher Dave Smeal helped the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-3. Smeal was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Cardinals. The setback makes Milwaukee 82-68.

The Cardinals got a big at-bat from center fielder Erik Adamic. For the game, Adamic went 1-1 with a triple. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave St. Louis a 1-0 lead.

Adamic attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
