Athletics Earn Clutch Win, 4-3
|
Alex Cruz, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in strikeouts with 216, propelled his team to victory over the Detroit Tigers. The final score was 4-3, Oakland. Jesus Rivera, now 4-4, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Nick Rodriquez finished to wrap up his 13th save.
Oakland needed the clutch hitting of Jose Infante to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Athletics on top, 4-3. For the game, Infante had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We took home the win," said Infante. "What's not to like?"
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Athletics.
