The New York Mets got a stellar performance from pitcher Tim Tynes, who handcuffed the Tampa Bay offense en route to a win, 8-2, at Jon Nunez Sr. Stadium. The winning pitcher was Tynes, now 1-0. David Thomas, the 26-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Thomas contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put New York up, 2-0.
