Royals Stumble, Lose to Reds
|
The Cincinnati Reds powered past the Kansas City Royals, 9-2, at Kauffman Stadium. Tim Mercer went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2, to lead the charge. Cincinnati now sits at 100-51, while Kansas City falls to 71-80.
Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Steve Carbone to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Reds ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll keep our chins up and get ready for the next game," said losing manager Connor Gould.
