Nationals Slap 6-1 Loss on Atlanta
Atlanta had no answer for two-time All-Star Ian Vick. The Washington Nationals starter stymied Braves hitters, helping the Nationals cruise to victory, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Vick, now 13-7. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. The first-place Nationals have won 4 straight games.

Joaquin Reyes had a big 3-run home run for the Nationals in the bottom of the first inning. With Washington leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a cutter from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Josh Smith and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Nationals on top, 4-0.

"Ian went out and did what we needed," said Washington manager Noah Fourie.
