Cleveland second baseman Gustavo Franco had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-5, to Detroit in 10 innings. Franco was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The win was credited to John Beaudoin in relief. His record improves to 8-6. Matt Mattingly took the loss. The Tigers now have a record of 71-81 with the win over Cleveland.

Nick Olheiser was 1-4 with a hit by pitch for Detroit. The 23-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Matt Mattingly. It was his 64th RBI of the season.

"We didn't let this one get away," said Olheiser.
