Guardians Drop Tigers, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Dean White fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Cleveland Guardians stymie the Detroit Tigers, 3-2. Manny Castro got credit for the win, improving to 7-7. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The win puts Cleveland at 59-94.
The Tigers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Guardians going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old left fielder Zack Wilson came to the plate. Wilson hit a solo home run on a 0-2 changeup from Detroit hurler Kenneth Jones. It was Wilson's 15th home run of the year.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Detroit manager Chris Gasparro. "The effort was great."
