Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Red Sox
Boston right fielder Dennis Grice collected 3 ribbies while his team bumped off the New York Yankees, 9-8, in 13 innings. Rich Friesz earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 3-6. The Red Sox, now 81-71, have won 4 in a row.

Grice delivered a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 13th to win it for Boston. In the contest, Grice was 2-4 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Red Sox manager Michael Meagher.
