Darius Shaheed, who finished 3rd in the NL in wins with 16 in 2106, was locked in. The right-hander led the Texas Rangers to a 7-3 win against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The 4th-place Rangers hiked their record to 71-81.

Texas used a well-timed hit by John Parry to capture the win. The first baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 5-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"Glad to go home with a win," said Shaheed.
