Rangers Drop 5-1 Decision to Astros
|
The Houston Astros went home winners at Minute Maid Park, thanks in large part to starter Matt Emery. Emery stifled the Texas Rangers, enabling Houston to grab the 5-1 win. Emery, now 13-9, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. With the win, Houston has a record of 76-76. Texas falls to 80-72.
Alex Perez, who is tied for 10th in the AL in home runs with 35, chipped in for Houston with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Perez said after the game.
