Diamondbacks Lose By a Run at San Francisco
|
In a low-scoring contest between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks, Brian McQuain was the X factor. The San Francisco right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. McQuain yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Getting the save was Jim Doll, his 38th.
Justin Rowell drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for San Francisco. The 26-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Paul Cowles. It was his 62nd RBI of the season.
"Brian made some good pitches in some situations he needed to make them in," said San Francisco manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
The win boosted San Francisco to 76-76.
