Good production from third baseman Jesse Grow helped the Los Angeles Angels topple the Texas Rangers, 5-2. Grow went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Angels. Richard Clare, the winning pitcher, improved to 10-10. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Earning his 34th save for Los Angeles was Rick Whitley.
With Los Angeles trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Grow hit a changeup from Dan Hofmann for a 3-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Angels ahead, 3-1.
Grow called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The 4th-place Rangers dropped to 60-93.
