Twins Rally Late to Nip Giants
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Minnesota Twins got the win.
The Minnesota Twins defeated the San Francisco Giants, 4-3, in American League action at AT&T Park. Minnesota pitcher Matt Doering had a standout performance. Reliever Jeff Robles picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Brian McQuain, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in holds with 26, took the loss.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of Ryan Jeanson to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Twins on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said San Francisco skipper Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
The win for the Twins lifted their record to 91-62.
