Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians.

The Chicago White Sox downed the Cleveland Guardians, 7-4, at Progressive Field. Devin Maurer led the way, going 4-for-5 for Chicago. Dennis Emmons, who finished 3rd in the NL in saves with 36 in 2102, picked up the win in relief. Billy Harp took the loss for Cleveland.

Maurer had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 curveball from Billy Harp, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the White Sox a 5-4 lead. It was the 36th home run of the year for Maurer.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Maurer told the Chicago Daily.

The first-place White Sox have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
