Twins Lose, 6-3, at Progressive Field
|
Cleveland and Minnesota met in a late-season matchup.
The Cleveland Guardians picked up a win at Progressive Field, downing the Minnesota Twins, 6-3. On the mound for Cleveland was left-hander Nick Wise, who played a pivotal role in the win. Wise yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 11-15. Matt Mattingly earned the save for Cleveland, his 25th of the year.
Cleveland catcher Joe Boyer contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 68th hit of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 4-0.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Wise.
The last-place Guardians sport a record of 62-93.
