Though he had a stellar game, Jeff Hennessey could not prevent his team, the Detroit Tigers, from losing, 6-5, to the New York Yankees. Hennessey was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Dan Buskey nailed down his 13th save. The victory puts New York at 55-100.
Had Paul Gee not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gee hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Yankees.
