Toronto Wins, Argueta goes 3-for-5
|
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Ricardo Argueta, the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Texas Rangers, 9-3. Argueta went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Andres Sauri, who is tied for 7th in the AL with a 3.35 ERA, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. The Blue Jays go to 66-89, putting them 4th in the American League East Division.
With Toronto leading 4-2 in the top of the fourth, Argueta batted against Texas pitcher Robby Thienes. Argueta hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Blue Jays on top, 7-2.
"No time for flexing," said Argueta. "It's always one game at a time."
