Mets Edged, 6-3, by Atlanta
|
The Atlanta Braves weathered an outstanding game by New York center fielder Joe Hardie to topple the Mets, 6-3. Hardie went 2-5 with 2 home runs. The Braves improved their record to 78-77 by beating New York.
La Puebla, New Mexico-born Jared Griesbach came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Braves trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Atlanta on top.
"The team always comes first," Griesbach told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
