Black Slugs Tigers to 5-3 Win
|
The performance of Brad Black proved critical in helping Detroit beat New York, 5-3. The Tigers first baseman was 2-3 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Carlos Ramirez, now 5-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. With the win, the Tigers hiked their record to 80-76.
In the top of the second of a scoreless game, Black hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Detroit manager Chris Gasparro.
