Angels Pull Out Late-Game Win, 3-2
The Los Angeles Angels besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Pittsburgh left fielder Kevin Hawkins by beating the Pirates, 3-2, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Hawkins went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Los Angeles reliever Adam Weale picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0. John Berglund was tagged with the loss. Tsuyoshi Higashi recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 2 for 4.

David Shank drove in one run for Los Angeles. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off John Berglund. It was his 47th RBI of the season.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Shank said in reaction to the win.

Los Angeles has now won 3 in a row.
