Losing Trend Continues for New York
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates racked up a win at PNC Park, bumping off the New York Mets, 5-3. Rich McMillan, who started for Pittsburgh, pitched effectively for his team. McMillan yielded 3 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 16-6. New York is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 7 in a row.
Mike Ronaldson hit a run-scoring double off Nick Jenkins in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Pirates in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Ronaldson had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We're in a rut," said New York manager Matt Moore.
