Cincinnati beat New York on the strength of starting pitcher Curtis Moore's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-0. The win lifted the Cincinnati record to 95-62.
Allan Alessi came through with a big-time hit for Cincinnati. The shortstop smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I had everything working," said Moore.
