Minnesota wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Russell Cottrell, falling to the Texas Rangers, 2-1. Cottrell threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was Texas reliever Victor Luna, now 6-5. The loser was Andres Martines. With the win, the Rangers sit at 83-74.

Texas took a 2-1 lead on Chris Patrick's 44th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Patrick hit in the top of the eighth, left Minnesota pitcher Andres Martines visibly frustrated.

"Runs were at a premium," said Texas manager Stephen Gesualdi.
