The timely hitting of Roy Lazzaro helped the Houston Astros down the Kansas City Royals, 9-4. Lazzaro went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Astros. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for Houston.

Erik Ellsworth dealt the Royals a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Houston leading 1-0, Ellsworth, who finished 4th in the AL in hits with 176 last year, hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single.
