5 Straight Wins for Braves
|
The Atlanta Braves picked up a win at Coca-Cola Field, knocking off the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-2. Starting pitcher T.J. Grady played a key role in the triumph. Grady, now 13-12, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Atlanta has now won 5 games in a row.
David Valera had a big 2-run double for the Braves in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Atlanta leading 4-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Dave Driskill, who finished 2nd in the NL in saves with 41 in 2099, and swatted a double to left. It was his 25th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 6-2.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said Atlanta manager Dan Hoagland.
