Nationals Fall Short, 6-5, at Pittsburgh
|
Though he had a terrific game, Jeremy Kenealy could not prevent his team, the Washington Nationals, from absorbing a loss. Pittsburgh won the game, 6-5. Kenealy was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winner was Pittsburgh reliever Scott Connell, now 7-6. The loser was Erik McFadden. The win gives Pittsburgh a season record of 84-73.
The Pirates got a big at-bat from third baseman Mark Tallman. For the game, Tallman went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 37th double of the season gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Washington manager Doug Graff.
