Hedges Hits 2 home runs in Reds Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds thumped the New York Yankees, 8-1, at Yankee Stadium. Tom Hedges was a big reason his team got the win. Hedges went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The victory gives the Reds a record of 90-68.
Jim Hall had a big run-scoring double for the Reds in the top of the third inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Eason and swatted a double to right. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 2-0.
"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Hedges told the Cincinnati Observer.
