Reds Need Extra Innings to Top Yankees, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest, Cincinnati pitcher Josh Blackburn was marvelous in his team's 3-1 win. Matt Bell notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 13-8. The Reds, at 106-52, have a comfortable 15-game lead in their division.
Rich Bruce, the 25-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Bruce contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the tenth inning to put Cincinnati up, 2-1.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Blackburn.
