Mets Win Pitchers' Duel, 1-0, Versus Hustle
|
New York turned a good performance from starting pitcher Chris Tresidder into a 1-0 triumph over the Las Vegas Hustle at Citi Field. In 7.1 innings, Tresidder surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. John Rood notched his 37th save in 42 chances.
New York left fielder Joe Hagelin contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Mets ahead, 1-0.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Las Vegas manager Larry Robinson.
New York is now 71-88, Las Vegas 92-66.
