The Pittsburgh Pirates used a great performance from 30-year old left-handed pitcher Matt Young to beat the Washington Nationals, 3-0, at PNC Park. Young yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 11-5. Pittsburgh is now 93-65. Washington is 77-80.

Frank McClellan had a big 2-run home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the second inning. With Pittsburgh leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Rios and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Pirates on top, 3-0.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," McClellan said after the game.
