Nationals Drop 9-3 Decision to Braves
|
The Atlanta Braves topped the Washington Nationals, 9-3, at Coca-Cola Field. Atlanta center fielder David Valera was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Wilfred Colvin earned the win to go to 8-10. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. With the win, the Braves have a record of 81-77.
Eric Fairweather, who is on pace for 80 RBI this season, helped out the Atlanta cause in the bottom of the first inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Valera told the Atlanta Bulletin.
