The Chicago Cubs beat the Colorado Rockies, 8-4, at Wrigley Field. Chicago first baseman Manuel Jimenez had an outstanding performance. He slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Chicago has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.

Chayton Buffington had a big 2-run home run for the Cubs in the bottom of the second inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a slider from Ruben Velazquez, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in complete games with 3, and punished it. The result was his 26th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 3-0.
