Guardians Collect 2-1 Win Versus Oakland
|
The Cleveland Guardians had to overcome a good performance from Oakland pitcher Ray Gehring to claim a 2-1 win at O.co Coliseum. Gehring went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Cleveland reliever Ernesto Neri picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ray Gehring was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Juan Ramirez, his 25th.
Cleveland relied on the hitting of Chris Downs to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the Guardians on top, 2-1. For the game, Downs had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I still think this team can play even better," Downs told the Cleveland Daily News.
Cleveland now has a 3-game win streak.
