Athletics Pick Up 4-1 Win Against Cleveland
|
Oakland pitcher Joey Wright did his part in helping his team defeat the Cleveland Guardians, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Wright, now 13-4, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Jamie Martin earned the save, his 24th.
The Athletics got a big at-bat from center fielder Alex Moncivaiz. For the game, Moncivaiz went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Oakland a 2-0 lead.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Moncivaiz.
The Athletics bumped their record to 84-75 with this win.
