The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at O.co Coliseum, knocking off the Cleveland Guardians, 7-5. Starting pitcher John Wilson was a big reason why. Nick Rodriquez nailed down his 37th save. Oakland has 3 straight wins, Cleveland 3 straight losses.

Jamie Sullivan had a big 2-run home run for the Athletics in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Oakland leading 4-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Nick Wise, who led the AL in innings pitched with 230.2 in 2106, and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Athletics on top, 6-1.

"John did a good job of managing their lineup," said Oakland manager Jon Pearson.
