Guardians Dealt 4-2 Loss by Oakland
|
The Oakland Athletics topped the Cleveland Guardians, 4-2, in American League action at O.co Coliseum. The game was highlighted by the performance of Oakland pitcher Ben Meyer. Oakland reliever John Wilson was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Bertrando Pesaresi. Jaquan Satchell recorded the save for Oakland, his 27th of the season.
Pete Ray, who is on pace to hit 37 home runs this season, helped out the Oakland cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Ben is a tough competitor," said Oakland manager Brett Doane.
Oakland now owns a record of 72-87.
