Padres Stumble, Lose to Nationals
|
The Washington Nationals cut down the San Diego Padres by the score of 8-4, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Chris Anderson. Anderson went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Nationals. The loss makes San Diego 92-67.
Washington catcher Gerwin Beekhuizen contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 109th hit of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 2-0.
"They beat us fair and square," San Diego skipper Tim Lentz said.
