Mets Win at Pittsburgh, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the New York Mets got the win.
New York turned a good effort from starter Sean McNees into a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. The final score was 4-2. McNees, now 12-5, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.
Matt Williams, who finished 5th in the NL in RBI with 112 in 2104, had a direct impact on the outcome. Williams contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put New York up, 3-0.
"Felt great, felt really good," said McNees.
The third-place Mets bumped their record to 79-80.
