Red Sox Victors, 3-2, at New York
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, Eric Huffman, who is on pace for 212 strikeouts this season, was the difference-maker. The Boston right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Boston, at 87-74, occupies second place in the American League East Division.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Cameron Goudy to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Eric pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Boston manager Michael Meagher.
