Nationals Nudge Past Giants, 4-3
|
The Washington Nationals faced a tough opponent in San Francisco pitcher Colin King, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Nationals Park by a final score of 4-3. King went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Getting the save was Danny Cruz, his 37th. Washington raised its record to 90-71 with the win.
Washington took a 4-3 lead on Joaquin Reyes's 40th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Reyes hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Francisco pitcher Rafael Alejandro visibly frustrated.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Reyes.
