The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Busch Stadium, courtesy of Jason Romanchik. The right-hander helped his team stop the Kansas City Royals, 3-2. Benny Morgan earned the save, his 40th, for the Cardinals. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 89-72.

Rich Rivas drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for St. Louis. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike Mask. It was his 65th RBI of the season.

"We busted our tails," said Kansas City manager Connor Gould. "But we came up short."
