Mariners Win Nail-Biter
|
The Seattle Mariners took San Francisco pitcher Chris Martin's best shot and still were able to claim a win at AT&T Park. The final score had Seattle getting past the Giants, 5-4. Martin went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 5. The Mariners saw their record improve to 90-71.
Seattle used a timely hit from Joe Weber to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Mariners ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We had a chance to win," said San Francisco manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon, "but we didn't get it done."
