Blue Jays Knock Off Orioles, 8-4
|
Toronto designated hitter Vic Rivera had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Baltimore Orioles, 8-4. The Blue Jays, at 90-72, lead by one game in their division.
Rivera contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Toronto in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Rivera took a fastball from Roland Nobilo and stroked the home run to center. His 55th home run of the season allowed the Blue Jays to leap in front, 2-1.
Rivera said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
