Mariners Lose to Royals in Walk-Off
|
The Kansas City Royals picked up a win at Kauffman Stadium, topping the Seattle Mariners, 2-1. On the mound for Kansas City was right-hander Hugo Coates. He played a principal role in the triumph. The Royals go to 76-86, putting them 4th in the American League Central Division.
Andy Alford was the walk-off hero for Kansas City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Royals designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Tough loss," said Seattle manager Jonah Beckenstein. "The kind that burns a little inside."
