Kansas City Tags St. Louis with 5-4 Defeat
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Rich Siegel. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Kansas City. The Royals won the game, 5-4. Siegel threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. Angelo Castillo picked up the save for Kansas City, his 3rd of the year. The Royals saw their record improve to 78-84.
Kansas City used a timely hit from Blake Linden to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Royals ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Linden.
