Mariners Raise Rally Flag, Beat San Francisco, 4-2
|
The San Francisco Giants got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Martin, but the Seattle Mariners still won the game, 4-2. Martin threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Gary Kennedy, now 13-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Tony Soto got the save, the 18th for him this season.
Seattle used a well-timed hit by Kenny Dahl to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Dahl attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
Seattle is now 105-57, while San Francisco is 99-63.
