Giants Nose Past Seattle, 3-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the San Francisco Giants got the win.
San Francisco pitcher Matt Barnes did his part in helping his team defeat the Seattle Mariners, 3-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Nick Rittenhouse notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 7-10.
Joey Tolar hit a 3-run home run off Ernie Lydon in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Giants ahead, 3-2. In addition to the homer, Tolar had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"I thought Matt threw the ball well across the board," said San Francisco manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
The slumping Mariners have lost 7 straight.
