The Richmond Flying Squirrels called upon starter Joe Novinger, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Binghamton Mets, 6-1. The loss makes Binghamton 2-4.
Nawaf Shafeeq made an early impact for Richmond when he stroked his 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came with two out in the bottom of the third, put the Flying Squirrels on top, 6-1.
In postgame comments to the Richmond News, Shafeeq said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
