Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Barons
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Birmingham Barons and Montgomery Biscuits.
The Birmingham Barons took Montgomery pitcher Steve Black's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The final score had Birmingham getting past the Biscuits, 6-4. Black went 8.2 innings and allowed 6 runs, striking out 14. Jaden Seals picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Steve Black was tagged with the loss.
Birmingham used a clutch hit from Telma Robles to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Barons ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Birmingham manager John Ware.
After losing, Montgomery is 1-3.
