Chattanooga Neutralizes Tennessee, 2-1
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at AT&T Field. Fortunately for the Chattanooga Lookouts, though, Scott Wilhelm was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, to lead his team past the Tennessee Smokies, 2-1. Marco Ayala picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Aaron Scott suffered the loss. The win moves Chattanooga to a record of 5-1.
Wilhelm had a timely hit for Chattanooga in the bottom of the sixth. With Chattanooga trailing 1-0, he turned a first pitch sinker into a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 2-1, Chattanooga.
"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said Tennessee manager Steve Schwab.
