Guardians Lose, 6-2, in 12
|
The bad news for the Cleveland Guardians: an opening day loss, 6-2, to the Cincinnati Reds in 12 innings at Progressive Field. The good news: it was just game one in a long season. No one played better than Pat Warner. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Cincinnati pitcher Corey Comer got the win. He's now 1-0. Dustin Brace was tagged with the loss.
Tom Hedges was 2 for 5 with 2 singles for Cincinnati. The 25-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the 12th. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dustin Brace. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
In postgame comments, Warner said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
