The Tennessee Smokies withstood a fine game by Biloxi catcher Jesse Shaw at Smokies Park, to upend the Shuckers, 8-7. Shaw went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Tennessee reliever Shane Baggett picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bengie McNealy absorbed the loss. Biloxi now has a record of 7-6.

The Smokies were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 24-year old center fielder Jaylen Craighead landed a big blow. He turned a 1-1 fastball from Bengie McNealy into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Smokies Park denizens into a frenzy and sent the Smokies home with a thrilling 8-7 win.

"This place was jumping at the end," Craighead said.
