The Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Mobile BayBears, 11-8, at Hank Aaron Stadium. Montgomery was led by 22-year old center fielder Tommy Starnes, who went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Scott Bray picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jorge Cordero suffered the loss. The win lifts Montgomery to a record of 11-3.

Danny Diaz came through with a big-time hit for Montgomery. The first baseman smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 11-8. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Diaz, "this wasn't it."
