Fans of the Texas Rangers who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Texas win over the visiting San Francisco Giants, 5-2. Nick Jenkins started for the home team against Dan Roberts. Nick Jenkins earned accolades for his performance.

Shane Trahan went 1 for 3 with a walk for Texas. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Dan Roberts. It was his 1st hit of the season.

"Nick throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Texas manager Stephen Gesualdi.
